The world has changed, but when it comes to women and finance, many attitudes remain stuck in the past. In this episode, the moms are joined by Anita Knotts, Senior Vice President of Calamos Wealth Management, to discuss why women need to take an active role in their financial lives.
Be Active in Your Finances
By taking a more active role, women will gain more clarity, confidence and control of their lives. That’s why it’s important to learn as much as possible about money. Often times, women don’t address their financial situation until they reach a moment of trauma like divorce, death of a loved one or job loss.
“It’s always important to know where everything sits before you get to that point of trauma. It’s an unfortunate case that at some point we’re all going to have to deal with,” said Anita Knotts.
“Play an active role in your financial planning,” added Cathy Subber.
Women in Financial Careers
Financial advisors traditionally have spoken like men because they’re used to talking to only men. That’s why Anita Knotts is passionate about intertwining women and finance and bringing them the frontline of the industry.
“One of the themes that keeps coming up in my career is the gumption to just go for it,” said Anita.
“It gives women more confidence to say what she’s feeling because I see someone in the room that looks like me,” said Patti Minglin.
