Pets are Family
Whether it’s a companion for yourself or a new responsibility for your children, taking care of pets enriches our lives in countless ways. In this episode, the moms discuss their experiences, good and bad, with animals.
Pets bring an immeasurable amount of joy to families. A pet can comfort, give support, and in some cases, take care of pesky problems.
“We have a cat named Milo, and Milo was not even part of our plan. It just kind of naturally turned into that after we found a mouse!” said Grace Boland.
Confidence and Responsibility
Children can gain confidence by having the responsibility of caring for a pet. Children as young as three years old can manage simple tasks such as filling the pet’s water and food bowls, but often times parents share those responsibilities.
“As parents, your kids are always into it like, ‘Oh let’s get a cat! Let’s get a dog! I will take care of it.’ but at some point, to all parents, you will be taking care of that pet,” said Patti Minglin.
