Dermatology and Self Esteem in Teens.
For many it’s one of the last specialties to go and visit – the dermatologist.
On this episode, the Moms meet with a dermatologist to discuss the challenges and benefits of addressing skincare with your children.
“We go to our doctors for checkups and dermatology should be no different,” said Erica Lopez.
Dr. Inderjit Gill, M.D. of Pinnacle Dermatology joins the Moms to discuss her passion for skin and self esteem. When asked why she chose dermatology, she answered, “because skin is so visible”.
“Most things are so accessible to us to treat and make an improvement,” said Gill. “It helps with self confidence and obviously from a medical perspective, keeps you from having further disease.”
Whether it’s eczema or acne, Dr. Gill says it usually correlates with something internal. This means diet, exercise and skin care all play a pivotal role in overall well being.
“It’s always amazing when something internally isn’t working right, it shows up externally on your skin,” said Patti Minglin.
The Moms say one of the most difficult things can be helping your child keep to their skincare regiment and Dr. Gill adds it can be a challenge, but chronic skin conditions require long-term consistent care.
