Babysitting can be challenging at times, but it’s also a fun and rewarding job. In this episode, the Naperville Moms Network discusses what they look for in a babysitter and the benefits of having their children babysit others.
What Makes a Good Sitter
“As parents we’re just looking for sitters who can play. As a mom, I’m doing 50 million things and I can’t always get down there and play as much as they’d like,” said Erica Lopez.
Being a babysitter is also about responsibility. Not only do sitters have to make sure the kids are happy, they have to make sure they’re safe and that their needs are taken care of.
“When you send your kid out to babysit, there’s a lot of conversation about rules and respect, but also to have fun with them,” added Patti Minglin.
Weighing the Cost
It’s getting more and more expensive for parents to leave the house. But the Naperville Moms explain the benefits of taking a break.
“By the time you add up going out and how much it’s going to cost you in babysitting, you just have to take those breaks. If you can’t get a babysitter for the evening, a lot of times we would put the kids to bed and order in and watch a movie,” said Saritha Arellano.
