Kevin Jackman and women’s track and field head coach, Kari Kluckhohn break down the events that Megan Costanzo and Madison Renfro will be competing in at the Indoor Track and Field Nationals in Grinnell, Iowa. Costanzo enters the meet as the second-fastest of 17 qualifiers in the 5,000-meter run, qualifying with a season-best time of 17 minutes, 12.47 seconds at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Indoor Championships which broke the CCIW meet record. She ranks behind only Amy Regan of Stevens Institute of Technology (New Jersey), who owns a qualifying time of 16:30.98. She is a qualifier for the indoor championship for the second time, placing 12th in the 5,000 in last year’s meet in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Costanzo will also be racing in the 3,000 meter race, with a qualifying time of 9.56.82, which is also a North Central College and CCIW Indoor National record.
Madison Renfro is the third-fastest qualifier in the 60-meter hurdles. She achieved her qualifying time of 8.68 seconds at the CCIW Championships, breaking her own meet record. She is looking to become a three time All-American.
