Naperville Garden Club

Originally a gardening committee within The Naperville Women’s Club, the Naperville Garden Club became its own club in 1929 when the committee had grown to 40 women. It is a member of The Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc, and National Garden Club, Inc. The club’s mission is to provide education, resources and networking opportunities for members, to promote the love of gardening, floral design, civic and environmental responsibility.

The love of gardening is fostered by club trips, annual plant sale and member plant exchange, along with monthly meetings where sharing ideas and information among members is included. There are upwards of 75 members currently in the club. Membership is $35 per year and meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of the month.

As part of their commitment to civic responsibility, in 2008 the club invested in a Blue Star Marker commemorating the Armed Forces which is located at the Burlington Park. The club also contributed a bench and plantings for the Spirit of the Navy statue , located at the park by the train station.

The club is also a part of Arbor Day to fulfill its environmental responsibility supporting the purchase of trees for local schools.

The Naperville Garden Club offers scholarships to high school students in Naperville school districts 203, 204, and private schools, who are interested in studying horticulture, earth science, botany or conservation. The scholarships and all of the programs, activities and projects of the Naperville Garden Club are funded by their highly successful Cup of Cheer™, the club’s premier fundraising event.

The 2017 event will be held on November 30 (Preview Day) and December 1. The event consists of a House Tour, Holiday Market and Tea. Tickets are available at the following locations: Naperville Bank and Trust, Nona Jo’s, Oxford Bank and Trust (2 locations), and The Growing Place.
