Loaves & Fishes Community Services is celebrating its 35th anniversary of working to end hunger and transform lives in our community. The organization’s mission is to provide food and leadership in the community by uniting and mobilizing resources to empower people to be self-sufficient.
Recently, Loaves & Fishes announced a new strategic plan. The core element of the strategic plan is to significantly impact families’ lives through food and programs that promote overall health and self-sufficiency.
As part of the plan, Loaves & Fishes recently opened a new pantry in Bolingbrook: the Compass Church Food Pantry. They are also launching a mobile delivery system to ensure that clients who can’t get to the pantry still have access to food.
Supporting the work at the pantry, Janet Derrick talks about the CARES program and the important work the team is doing as part of their Moving Up Program. This 16 week, 50 hour class is designed to help clients achieve self-sufficiency.
