The Community Career Center was the outcome of a multi-phase grass roots effort to address the concerns of the underemployed and unemployed throughout the Naperville area community. It opened its doors in September 1996 to assist job seekers in developing the tools and resources needed to conduct a successful job search and return to work.
As executive director, Kimberly White, points out unemployment and under-employment can add significantly to the daily pressure and stress of family life. The Community Career Center partners with many local service agencies to provide a safety net for job seekers and their families.
The Community Career Center provides a supportive and professional setting where job seekers can conduct an effective and successful job search. In addition, a professional staff of trained volunteers is available for individual consultation to assist job seekers in setting reasonable goals and implementing strategies that meet their specific needs. One of the most unique features about the Center is the one-on-one appointments, which include: resume writing, networking, interviewing skills, job search strategy, career counseling, and basic computer skills. This provides the ability to customize the Center’s resources to the individual job seeker’s needs. Programs and services are available without geographic restrictions.
