Wheaton United vs. Neuqua Valley Girls Sectional Lacrosse

After a 15-4 regular season, the Neuqua Valley Girls Lacrosse team is the top seed in the Metea Valley Sectional. They take on Wheaton United, a co-op of Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville South in the Sectional Semi Finals.


First Half

Scoreless early in the 1st half. Campbell Clynch with the ball off a restart and she whips it past Stephenie Eichamer to put Wheaton United up 1-0.

Wildcats respond 30 seconds later. After a restart Brenda Anderson puts the rock into the back of the net to tie the game at 1.

That goal ignites the Wildcats as they take full control of the game. Josie Szmanda with the ball in transition. She dishes to Caroline Perkins. She takes her time and waits for a lane to develop, then hits the hole and scores. NV goes up 3-1.

Lauren Reitzel with the ball of a restart and there is no stopping her. She extends the Wildcat lead to 4-1.

Just over a minute later Courtney Costello with the ball in transition. She flings it over to Caroline Perkins and she does the rest, splitting a pair of defenders and bouncing the shot past Kyra Nolen.

Wildcats up 8-2 with 2:48 to go in the 1st half. Caroline Perkins hits a cutting Josie Szmanda right in front of the net for the goal.

Final minute of the half, Wildcats with the ball on the fast break. Zoey Laipple to Chirstine Corbin, she goes top shelf on Nolen and NV has a commanding 11-3 lead at the break.


Second Half

Neuqua doesn’t let up in the 2nd half. With the defense focused on Caroline Perkins, she dishes to Allie Zeiler and she zips it past Kyra Nolen to put the Wildcats up 12-5.

Nolen with the ball, but she turns the ball over thanks to aggressive defense. Costello draws the defense and finds Lauren Reitzel right in front of the net for her 3rd goal of the game and the Wildcats lead 13-6.

Christine Corbin wins a faceoff. Lauren Reitzel gets a hold of the ball. She sprints down field and finds a wide open Zoey Laipple for the goal. Neuqua looks to exact revenge against Naperville North in the Sectional Title Game after the Huskies ended the Wildcats season in this same game a year ago. The Huskies lost both regular season meetings against Neuqua Valley in Girls Lacrosse.
