Waubonsie Valley vs. Naperville Central Boys Volleyball 5.20.19

It’s an 11 vs 21 seed match up and a DVC showdown between Naperville Central and Waubonsie Valley with the latter hosting the regional. The Redhawks won both meetings in the regular season.

First Set

Game tied at 4s in the first set, Sam Wichart sets up Carter Stenmark for the kill but it gets blocked. Crazy sequence as the block hits Stenmarks shoulder and falls for the redhawk point 5-4.

Waubonsie now leading later in the set. The Redhawks rest. Vincent Johnson sets up Ben Schweiger for the kill, Warriors up 18-16.

First set coming to a close. Carter Stenmark’s kill attempt gets blocked at the net by Standley LaGuerre for Waubonsie Valley to win the first set 25-23.

Second Set

Second set and Central now the ones in the lead, Sam Bohnstedt makes a beautiful dig on a kill attempt. Sam Wichhart sets up Finn Wolfe for the kill, Central up by 10.

Total domination from the Redhawks in the 2nd set. Sam wichhart sets up Carter Stenmark for the kill. Central forces a third set, 25-13.

Third Set

In that final match, Centra up by just one and they have to reset. Vincent Johnson sets up Marc Bailey for the kill, game all tied up at 4.

Central now on a roll, up by 4… change that to 5 with Carter Stenmark serving up an ace. Just the first of 3 straight aces for him.

Central leading up 5 now, Sam Wichhart sets up Carter Stenmark for a monster kill. 9 kills in the third set along for Stenmark and 19 overall as central leads 14-8.

Waubonsie came clawing back though. Vincent Johnson sets up Ben Schweiger for the kill. Warriors trailing by 2, 19-17.

But the warriors just couldn’t hold on in the third set. Sam Wichhart sets up John McCormack for the monster kill helping central to the three set victory. The redhawks move on to play Downers Grove South.
