Waubonsie Valley goes for an upset win over Bolingbrook in the opening game of the class 4A boys volleyball playoffs.
Close first set in which the Raiders got a strong performance from David Miechowicki. The outside hitter with 10 kills in the match as the Raiders take the first set 25-19.
Waubonsie would come back in the second set, after an ace from Brandon Pedersen gave the Warriors an early 4-3 lead. Down the stretch, a block by Zach Fox helps Waubonsie take a 25-17 win to force a third set.
Each team exchanged points in the third, Jonah Tjaarda with a block for Waubonsie tied the match at 13, but later, his shot was blocked putting Bolingbrook up 22-21.
Senior Jake Furman with a phenomenal effort late, but the Raiders come away with the three set win. They face West Aurora in the regional semifinals.
