NSW’s Charlie Edward details Bobby Ernsting’s decision to not play for Benet Academy’s hockey team in his senior year. Ernsting opted to play for the Chicago Mission, a triple A team that plays its home games at Seven Bridges, the same venue as Benet Academy.
An integral part of the Redwings run to state last year, Ernsting made the difficult decision to not return to the team, instead playing at the next level in the hopes of getting drafted. While the United States Hockey League is his top choice, the North American Hockey League presents another opportunity for Ernsting to get drafted and make it one step closer to his dream of playing in the NHL.
Benet Academy is once again one game away from playing in the State Championship game at the United Center for the second straight year.
