Oak Park-River Forest vs. Waubonsie Valley, Softball // 03.29.16

Oak Park-River Forest taking its undefeated season into Aurora to battle Waubonsie Valley. The Warriors starting 2016 winners of three straight conference championships while the Huskies return this year after a third place finish at state.

We jump ahead to the fourth inning, game tied at two, Sabrina Scardamaglia puts the Warriors on top with a two-run home run to left center. But OPRF would respond with two of its own in the fifth. Katie O’Shea scores Maeve Nelson from third with the sacrifice fly to right, tying the game at four. The back and forth continues in the bottom half of the inning with a blast to the corner in left off the bat of Sabrina Calabrese. She scores Caleigh Cramer on the play as Waubonsie goes back up by two.

In the seventh, Huskies down a run, Caitlyn Santiago ties the game at six with one swing of the bat, sending the Alyssa Morris offering to left field. But in the bottom of the seventh, Sabrina Calabrese delivers the game-winning knock to center field handing Oak Park-River Forest its first loss of the season.
