NSW Feature // Closer Than They Appear

There were two Wildcats, who, over the course of their careers, rarely went to the bench. Neuqua Valley star basketball players Kai Moon and Myia Starks have surpassed one thousand points each. In layman’s terms, that means they put the ball in the hoop, a lot. Emily Schramek and Emily Eshoo were the Benet Academy stars who accomplished this same scoring landmark last year.

But here’s what makes this Neuqua duo unique, “My first date I went on, Myia came with me” Moon said. “Like, that’s how close we are”.

“I was like, I don’t know who this guy is, so I’m (going to) go with you.” Starks said. “Just in case you need a wing man. I’ll be right there for you.”

And so, to accomplish this feat at the side of a first-date accomplice, is quite special.

“I saw a couple of my friends post their 1,000th point on Instagram and I was like, ‘I wonder if I’m coming close to that!” Starks said.

“It’s an honor to be in that category of people that get to reach that milestone” Moon said. “A lot of people don’t get that.”

Kai Moon is off to Binghamton on a full-ride, while Myia Starks will head to Northern Illinois University. The reward, for reaching the 1,000 point plateau.
