Metea Valley hopes to knock higher seeded Plainfield North out of the playoffs for the third straight season.
The Tigers dominated the first half in terms of shots on goal, but Amy Ahern and the Mustang defense were able to turn aside all the threats to keep the game scoreless at the half.
In the second, Metea Valley’s offense came to life. First Jade Eriksen-Russo dished an assist to Taylor Rohm. Then Rohm’s corner kick was able to set up a Sophia Majher goal for a 2-0 lead.
In the final five minutes, Mustang captain Maddie Morris scored her first varsity goal as Metea Valley upset Plainfield North on its home field to win its second straight regional championship.
