It’s back to conference play for both Naperville Central and Metea Valley after a weekend away at a pair of invitationals.
Redhawks come out firing in the first set. Matt Johnson leading the charge with a pair of big returns at the net. Then Quinton Gabrielli serving up the ace, Central starting out the match on a 7-0 run taking the first set 25-13.
A different look to the second set, however. Mustangs getting a much needed blocked shot, the Noah Marzuki puts home a kill of his own, giving Metea a 5-4 lead early on. Marzuki second on the team in kills with four. Jordan Hawk contributing with a return at the net and a service ace of his own helping the Mustangs to a 10-7 advantage, leading to a Central timeout.
But down the stretch, the poise of the Redhawks proves to be too much. Jeremy Parker and Matt Johnson team up on a pair of kills giving Central a 22-21 lead. Rashad Fattash throws down one of his five kills closing out the match in straight sets. Central moves to a game above .500 on the season.
