Naperville North tries to make it back to the state series for the first time since winning the state title in 2013. Glenbard East looks for its first ever trip to state in girls soccer.
It would be the Rams to strike first. In the 17th minute, Amanda Chlebek sends the ball towards the net, North’s netminder Elizabeth Cablk comes out to play the ball late giving Dana Plotke enough time and space to put the header in the back of the goal giving Glenbard East a 1-0 lead. Naperville North’s Ashley Santos had a chance late in the half, but Sierra Dana came out of her net forcing Santos to shoot early, making the shot go just wide of the net.
15 minutes into the second half, Glenbard East’s Brittany Paganucci found space just to the right of the box, driving the ball past Cablk for a 2-0 lead that the Huskies would not be able to recover from. The Rams move on to face Collinsville. This is the first time since 2009 a District 203 or 204 school will not play in the state series in girls soccer.
