Metea Valley the host of the 2021 girls DVC swimming meet that features five our area ready for top times in the water. Neuqua Valley comes in as the defending conference champs so can they do it again? This highlight is sponsored by BMO Harris Bank.
200 Yard Medley Relay
200 Yard Medley Relay We start this meet off with the 200-medley relay. Coming into the final leg of the relay it remains close between Naperville North and Neuqua Valley with Naperville central Trailing Close behind in the pink caps. The North Relay team made up of Claire Jansen, Cameryn Schmidt, Melissa Patterson, and Cambria Swanson gives their team the first win of the day with a time of 1:48.70.
200 Yard Freestyle
200 Yard Freestyle Up next the 200 yard free style. It was a close one coming out of the last turn between Naperville North’s Claire Jansen and Naperville Central’s Sophia Hayes. Jansen out touches Hayes with a time of 1:55.74. This was Jansen’s second win of the day and she later wins the 100-yard backstroke and leads off the 400-yard free style relay.
200 Individual Medley
The 200 individual medley is next, it’s a close one during the butterfly lap but Naperville North’s Amanda Ng pulls of the win with Metea Valley’s Amanda Schmidt coming in second and Neuqua Valley’s Callie Tuma coming in third. Naperville Central’s Grace Malinger goes back-to-back. Winning the 50-yard freestyle and then winning this event, the 100-yard butterfly, right after.
100 Yard Freestyle
The 100-yard freestyle was another close one. The top five swimmer in the event were all in .48 milliseconds of each other. Naperville North’s Mia Sparacino wins it from lane 7 with a time of 54.33. Allison Leslie in lane 3 come in second and Sophia Hayes in lane 4 comes in third. Here’s Sparacino and teammate Cambria Swanson celebrating first and sixth place for Naperville North.
500 Yard Freestyle
Up Next, the endurance race. 500 Yard Freestyle The 500-yard freestyle. Twenty lengths of the pool. Coaches only form of communication during the race? Hand signals. The signals work for Neuqua Valley’s Callie Tuma she blows everyone out of the water with a final time of 5:13.97.
100 Yard Breaststroke
Last but not least, the 100-yard breaststroke. Elle Filipiak gives Waubonsie Valley their first win of the night with a time of 1:06.41 However at the end of the night it’s Naperville North coming out on top of the DVC girls swimming meet with 292 points. Neuqua in second and Naperville Central in third.
