Neuqua Valley looks to follow up its indoor title with an outdoor DVC Championship.
For the field events, we saw a wide range of winners from our area schools. Neuqua Valley’s Kenna Lonergan took first place in the high jump, clearing 5’1″. At the long jump, it was Naperville Central’s Alissa Gorzak taking the title leaping 18’1″. Metea Valley’s Courtney Morgan dominated the competition winning both the Shot Put (44’2.5″) and breaking the DVC record with a discus throw of 146’2″.
The track also saw a wide range of winners. Naperville North’s Sarah Schmitt won the 3200 meter run, while Neuqua Valley’s Samara Miller got first place finishes in both the 400 meter and 200 meter dash.
The conference title came down to the final race. Naperville North entered the 4×400 relay with a 103-100 lead over Neuqua Valley. The Wildcats did their part, winning the race, but the Huskies were passed down the stretch by Metea Valley. The 3rd place finish from Naperville North put them a single point behind Neuqua Valley, which wins the Conference Championship.
