After defeating York 3-2 in Game 1 of the Illinois West Cup Final, Neuqua Valley looks to close out the series on home ice for the second consecutive season. York jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first period, but Neuqua would counter on a Kevin Ringlein goal on the power play early in the second period. However, York would strike with 22 seconds left in the same period regaining their two-goal advantage heading into the final period.
Neuqua would not give up as they would come back to tie the game at three with two goals in the opening seven minutes. The game appeared destined for overtime, but a poorly timed turnover at center ice lead to a breakaway from Jack McDonnell as he buried the game winner with 2:18 left in the third period. York would add an empty net goal with 28-seconds left in the game forcing a decisive Game 3.
