Benet Academy facing elimination in the Kennedy Cup Final down a game in the best of three series to Providence Catholic. The Celtics with a chance to reclaim the Kennedy Cup after the Redwings beat them last year. Providence Catholic came out strong, scoring the opening goal just 11 seconds into the game. Luke Sammons made sure to tie things up with a goal just minutes later. But the Celtics pick up a late goal before the end of the first to go ahead 2-1 after one period.
Not much happening until late into the second period when Patrick Quinlan forces a turnover and Matt Ernsting put home the loose puck. In the final minutes of regulation, Jake Barnhart made a flurry of saves, part of a 40-save performance. Under 30 to play, Providence Catholic turns the puck over in its own zone and Connor Smith scores the game winner to force a game three.
