DuPage Valley Conference rivals Naperville Central and Wheaton-Warrenville South met up for the third time this season in the regional semifinals. The two squads split the regular season series with each team winning on the other’s court.
But the game started out a bit sluggish. Neither team scored in the first few minutes of the game until Redhawks’ Matthew Meier buried a corner three. Central took a five point lead into the half that it would never relinquish. The Tigers’ Jeran Simpson knocked down four three-pointers, leading all scorers with 16. But the senior’s effort not enough as Naperville Central made its crucial free throws down the stretch, securing the win, and moving on to the regional final against Benet Academy.
