First game of the season for Metea Valley, looking to get off to a strong start at home. The Mustangs taking on Hinsdale Central. The Red Devils made the state quarterfinals a year ago.
Metea Valley not intimidated by Hinsdale Central’s size, keeping the game close in the first set. With the Mustangs down one, Ryan Evans gets a big block on Hinsdale Central’s Colin Goss tying the game at 10. Youth serving Metea well in this match, a pair of sophomores in Matt Nealon and Joey Kisiel teaming up to get a point, helping the Mustangs take the first set 25-21.
The second set would play out similarly to the first. Metea keeping Hinsdale Central’s outside hitters at bay, and coming up with timely serving. Mustangs win the second set 25-22, taking the match in straight sets. Metea starts the season with a win against the Red Devils for a second year in a row.
