Before Benet’s Hattie Monson graduates, she hopes to help get the Redwing Volleyball team back to state! Check out her player profile, presented by Edgewood Clinical Services.
Any girls volleyball team that faces off against Benet Academy, knows they are in for a battle. They also know that if they are sending a kill to the back row, chances are Hattie Monson is the one that will dig it out. As the volleyball season moves in to post season play, Monson and the redwings hope that they have what it takes to make it back to state after taking third last year.
Monson is no stranger to the big stage. Before state last year, Monson was one of twelve players named to the U.S. Girls Youth National Volleyball team that competed in Honduras and took gold. Being used to the pressure, the libero feels she can help guide the underclassman through this post season journey before moving on to play at Notre Dame University next year.
Along with the underclassman, Juniors, such as setter Rachel Muisenga, feel the pressure to continue Hattie Monson’s and the rest of the seniors season as long as possible.
The wings sit 36-1, only losing once to Marist, while also defeating them once. While each victory gets her closer to her goal, Monson knows that the team has to look at each game in simple terms.
After bringing home Benet’s thirteenth consecutive regional plaque, Hattie Monson and her teammates are on to sectionals, and hopefully state. So If you happen to catch a Redwing game, watch that back row because chances are Monson will be moving all around making as many saves as possible.
