Waubonsie Valley off to a rough start in 2016, looking to replace a pair of D-1 talents. The Warriors hosting former Upstate Eight Conference foe Batavia. Waubonsie still looking for its first win of the season.
The Lady Warriors came out swinging in the first set. One of Greer Griffin’s seven kills in the match gets Waubonsie out to an 18-11 lead. Then Gisela Bode finishes the set with a middle hit shot that Batavia just couldn’t handle.
Bulldogs showing some teeth in the second set, getting a big kill from Sam Juarez to give Batavia the lead 11-10. Bulldogs would hold on to force a third set, 26-24.
But in that third set, it was all Waubonsie. The Warriors brought the thunder and put up the picket fence on defense. A pair of blocks by Greer Griffin and Libby Valek seals the deal for the home team. Waubonsie Valley gets its first win of the season, (25-16, 24-26, 25-12).
