The Koehler Family YMCA opened its doors to kids and families today to help educate them on how to live healthy.
The annual Healthy Kids Day event was part of the national effort by the YMCA to promote healthy lifestyles for children.
“We want people to know there are healthy choices out there, there are healthy ways of living,” said Event Coordinator for the Koehler Family YMCA. “We want to promote kids them to stay active.”
Many activates like a bounce house and basketball hoops, showed guests being active can be fun.
“I like it because it’s like you do two things at the same time,” said Naperville resident, Ethan. “If you’re staying healthy and you’re doing it, you like it at the same time.”
“Because it’s fun, it’s easier to stay healthy,” said Edison, another Naperville resident.
Children could also learn how to make healthy choices when it came to food; like picking water and fruit over other sugary snacks.
“Why do I want to be healthy? So I can grow taller than my sister,” said Naperville Resident Maddy. “I at least want to be taller than my sister for one week.”
In addition to the fitness activities, kids could explore a Naperville Police car.
And each vendor donated an item to a raffle, in which the proceeds will help fund swim lessons and summer camp registration for local families in need.
