Two kids in Naperville are saying “YES WE CAN” end hunger in our community.
Siblings, Vaughn and Sasha Lindstrom recently kicked off the 2nd annual “YES WE CAN” food drive at Fair Oaks Ford Lincoln.
The 9 and 10 year old began the fundraiser last year when what started off as a race between the two to collect the most cans of soup, turned into Chicagoland’s most successful food drive.
“Last year we got 8,919 cans of soup plus the funds,” said Vaughn Lindstrom, Founder of YES WE CAN.
Those efforts were thanks to the help of Mayor Pradel and organizations across the city.
Now the pair plans to get even more people involved in their fight to tackle hunger in the community. They’ve set up an advisory board made up of area business leaders and engaged with leadership teams and schools throughout the community.
“This year we’re going to try to go double what we did last year,” said Sasha Lindstrom, Founder of YES WE CAN.
The group has set up drop-off sites around the community at local businesses, including:
Dupage Children’s Museum, Fair Oaks Ford Lincoln, Naperville Development Partnership, Naperville Bank & Trust, Aurelio’s Pizza, Advanced Healthcare of Naperville and Naperville Mom’s Network, and the Dailey Method of Naperville.
The food collected will be donated to Hessed House, DuPage Pads and Loaves and Fishes.
