Women Vets Get Helping Hand in Naperville

Local veterans had a helping hand with employment opportunities.

The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs honored and recognized the achievements of women who have served in the military with a benefit fair right here in Naperville.

The event, held at the Judd Kendall VFW Post, aimed to offer services to female veterans.

“In 2016, when you think about all the things that women accomplish, we still need to highlight that women do serve in the military, it may not be their spouse, it’s them that serve and to give recognition and honor and respect to those women and sacrifice as well,” said Nicole Mandeville, Senior Program Manager with the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Some resources that were available to veterans were benefits assistance, veteran’s employment assistance and state hiring opportunities.
