Grammy-award winning musician, comedian, actor, and author ‘Weird Al” Yankovic stopped by Anderson’s Bookshop to celebrate the release of his latest book, “My New Teacher and Me.”
It’s his second children’s book and the follow-up to his first, “When I Grow Up.”
The book displays the comedian’s playful side about a young boy who has a huge imagination and his teacher who doesn’t.
“Billy is the kind of kid that I wish I could have been,” said Yankovic. “He’s weird but he owns his weirdness. He is not afraid to be different.”
One woman was left breathless after getting her book signed.
“He was great, he was so great. It was so nice to meet your childhood idol and find out that he is even better than you think it could be,” said Michelle Gargrave, a Woodridge resident.
Many fans have met “Weird Al” before but that didn’t take away from the experience.
“When I heard that he came out with a book I knew that it was going to be hilarious. They are very Dr. Seuss-esque,” said Jessi Moen, a Chicago resident.
“You can tell he’s down to earth,” said Elise Griskell, a Darien resident. “[He was] very interested in everyone coming in.”
