The Western Dupage Special Recreation Association celebrated 35 years of drama, dance, music, arts, and sports offered to individuals with disabilities.
The group also known as WDSRA, held its anniversary open house at Wentz Concert Hall at North Central College.
Staff, volunteers, and family members came together to take part in the “Equal Fun for Everyone”, the theme that spreads the mission of WDRSA across the community.
The open house gave residents the chance to look back at the history of WDSRA as well as the chance to envision what the future has to offer.
“We chose this open house as a culmination for our 35th anniversary. We kicked it off in March with our auction, which is our largest event that we have.” Says Becky Price, manager of the athletic program at WDSRA. “We wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone in our community. The sponsors, our participants and anyone else who is involved with the agency.”
The staff and volunteers have dedicated their time and compassion since 1976 to provide a fun learning environment to individuals with disabilities.
WDSRA offers more that 1,500 programs, trips and special events each year for people to participate in.
