The game changing Water Street project has been proposed, re-designed, and commented on for months. The developers are hoping their new design plans will keep the project afloat.
“The revised project takes down the hotel two whole stories,” says Jeff Prosapio, the Director of Project Management for Marquette Companies. “So instead of a seven story structure it’s a five story structure. All of our roof heights are in the low sixties.”
The initial project was met with a flurry of criticism for being too tall and too big for the downtown area.
The developers asked City Council to avoid sending the project back to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Instead, they promised they would come back with plans more people could support.
Other changes include lowering the Theatre building, which will house commercial, retail and restaurant space. They also downsized the parking structure.
Mayor Pradel says this open house event will be the final step before the Council takes a vote.
Residents were asked to leave a comment card with feedback for the developers.
