If you take the train to work, a new city project could put a kink in your commute.
Construction began today on a more than $470,000 water main project along 5th Avenue from Columbia to Loomis.
Here’s what you need to know:
36 street parking spots, typically filled by train riders, will be unavailable to make room for the construction crews to work.
That stretch of 5th Avenue will also go down to one west bound lane when the project amps up.
The construction, slated to wrap up in September, is supposed to help the water distribution system’s performance downtown and could interrupt some water service for some homes, but residents will be notified in advance by the city.
