Drivers now have a smoother ride traveling down one major road but a more congested commute along another thanks to construction.
This October, crews completed resurfacing Washington Street in downtown Naperville.
It had been 13 years since that portion of the street was last resurfaced and the project finished on time, within budget, and with minimal impact to the community.
And construction along Route 59 is still taking place and will be through the summer of 2015.
The $84.8 million project includes adding a third lane in each direction and converting the I-88 Interchange into a diverging diamond configuration.
A three-mile stretch from New York Street to Ferry Road is affected.
City staff suggest motorists continue to take an alternate route, as lanes may be closed, resulting in significant traffic delays.
