As the number of clients needing Loaves & Fishes’ assistance continues to grow, so is the organization’s need for volunteers.
The food pantry recently hosted an open house for residents to learn more about the organization and opportunities to volunteer.
Visitors could tour the facility, ask current volunteers questions, and then could sign up for their first shift.
“We need people with computer skills and people skills. But, we also need forklift drivers. We are in need of more people to work in the warehouse,” said Shelly Schmitz, Director of Volunteer Engagement for Loaves & Fishes. “And of course we always have our helpers during distribution with the sorting of the product and even parking and traffic control.”
