One local resident is making being organic her business, growing a farm that aims to support our veterans.
Veronica Porter, also known as Aunt V, has started Veterans Victory Farm in Sugar Grove, which will be filled with organic produce.
Her love for gardening, combined with her family, who has a long history of military service, cultivated a desire to plant these seeds. And though the five-acre farm will produce fresh fruits and vegetables, she believes it can do much more.
“The reason I made this is to provide jobs for veterans, including those with traumatic brain injury or PTSD, and men and women who are very capable who have special needs or hidden disabilities,” said Porter.
Aunt V also hopes that the farm will help to develop economic growth, preserve farm land for future generations and provide a link in the food supply chain by creating a distribution center.
Her next move is to create a second Veterans Victory Farm in Oswego, and eventually, a third location right here in Naperville.
