Naperville kids are taking a crash course in science this summer at the DuPage Children’s Museum.
Children ages 3-5 use wind, gravity, and tension to move toy cars at the Science Discovery class.
The sessions are part of a summer studio program that alternates math, science, and art related projects. July’s theme is power.
The purpose of the class is to teach kids how to make the cars go without pushing them. Each one moves with help from fans, rubber bands, or weights.
Play Facilitator, Tracy Tryban, says the kids are surprised when they figure out how it works. “You help them a bit, and it goes really far and they’re like, wow, look what happened.”
Upcoming classes include powering up pinwheels and sailboats. They are open to anyone and don’t require pre-registration.
