Despite living in one of the safest communities in the country, some local ladies, are making themselves a tough target against violence.
Members of the Naperville Women’s Club learned a few self-defense techniques that are easy to remember and use if they are ever attacked.
Mary Browning, Community Education Specialist for the Naperville Police Department, led the “Personal Safety: Becoming a Tough Target” class, which was all about the importance of staying safe.
The women watched a slideshow and learned how to use their instincts to either escape, or fight back giving it all they’ve got.
“You’re making yourself a tougher target, so the person who might want to attack you or steal your purse, or whatever, is going to go on to a weaker target than you are.”
The Naperville Police Department offers many ways to stay safe. One tip- use the buddy system.
