After raising funds to add modern updates to their classic building, the Naperville Women’s Club is ready to break ground.
The ladies behind the purple door are giving the Old Stone Church on Washington Street an update. Adding a ramp to the back entrance, putting in a restroom on the first floor, and creating a new catering kitchen.
The club has had ownership of the 116 year old building since 1925, and through the help of donations and a SECA grant, were able to raise the $94,000 to fund the changes. Donors, members, and Mayor Chirico came out for the groundbreaking event.
“It’s so exciting to have this project underway. The club has owned the building for so long and we’ve been very good stewards of it. These changes will help in making it more accessible for all,” said President of the Naperville Women’s Club, Julie Cunningham.
Construction is underway and will be finished in just four weeks.
