A Geneva man has pleaded guilty to aggravated driving under the influence, which led to a crash here in Naperville, causing the death of two of his friends.
In the early morning of July 19th, 2014, Michael Szot had a blood alcohol level of .142 and had smoked marijuana, when he veered off Aurora Avenue, crashing his car into Quarry Lake. He was able to swim to safety, but his friends Mihirtej Boddapalli of Lisle and Sajaad Syed of Naperville were trapped inside the car, and died.
Szot had originally pleaded not guilty at his August 25th court date in DuPage county. He now faces between six and 28 years in prison.
His next court appearance will be October 2nd, for a pre-sentence report.
