The District 203 community met for its first Future Focus event this year to identify key topics to work on for the direction of the district.
The meeting was a continuation of last year’s community engagement sessions, which invited community members to provide input to help move the district forward.
First up was the “State of The District” presented by Superintendent Dan Bridges, Chief Academic Officer, Jennifer Hester, and Chief Financial Officer, Brad Cauffman.
Topics included students’ academic progress, upcoming funding shifts in the district, and updates to the testing system.
“PARCC will replace both the ISAT and the PSAE. The assessment is designed to measure student performances on the common core standards. It is considered to be the next generation of assessment as it will be technology based,” said Jennifer Hester, Chief Academic Officer.
They also took this opportunity to introduce the strategic blueprint for comprehensive improvement, Focus2020.
“Its purpose is to create clarity, establish clear priorities, define how we’ll measure our success and what impact it’ll have on the school district and to fully guide our work moving forward,” said Superintendent Dan Bridges.
With this information in hand, community members broke out into small groups to determine which topics they would like to hear about and engage in for future sessions.
