After a summer of construction, Naper Settlement’s newest attraction is complete.
Residents, community leaders, and settlement staff were all on hand to celebrate the completion of the Rita and John Harvard Early Learning Playscape.
“When I come here and I see the opportunity for kids to just be creative and do their thing, it means a lot,” said John Harvard.
“This is the realization of the dreams of so many,” said Rena Tamayo-Calabrese, President & CEO of Naper Settlement. “It’s the dream of John and Rita Harvard because they had a dream for Naperville, but also the dream of our board and our staff.”
The new addition to the Fort Payne area of the settlement includes a splash pad, trading post, and other hands-on activities for young visitors.
The project was funded by a gift from John and Rita Harvard, a SECA grant, money from the city’s capital improvement program, and the Naperville Park District.
