At the latest Riverwalk Commission Meeting, board members reviewed their portion of the city’s proposed Capital Improvement Program.
The plan lays out how the commission expects to spend funds over the next five years.
For 2016, the commission has set aside money for general maintenance and to replace the elevator in Moser Tower.
“The real problem we believe is it’s an interior elevator in an external environment so we’re programing it to replace it. We are taking one last look at it, meeting with several elevator representatives looking if there’s just some modifications we can make on a smaller magnitude and save us some money,” said Bill Novack, Riverwalk Commissioner and Director of TED for the City of Naperville.
Though they budgeted to completely replace the elevator, commissioners are hoping that repairs may be sufficient. The board expects to make a decision in February.
This was also the final meeting for chairman Bill Epp, who has served on the Riverwalk Commission for six years.
Geoff Roehll will take over as chairman at the commissions next meeting on December 9th.
