Ribfest Kick Off

The Exchange Club has fun for everyone in store at this year’s Ribfest.

“There is just so many different things to do people love it. Family area, carnival, great food, ribs, and great music,” said Ribfest Marketing Chair, Don Emery.

For the Ribfest vets, there are a few new options sure to have your taste buds buzzing.

“We have our first ever Craft and International Beer tasting inside a huge tent and some really interesting and unusual beer from all over the country and the world, we have European beers, South American Beers as well as craft beers from the United States. We also now have really good other foods as well, we’ve got probably 25 other vendors who are bringing everything from the best sliders in Chicago from Hugo’s, great desserts to kids foods all kinds of food even options for vegetarians and those with dietary restrictions,” said Emery.

But don’t worry; those delicious ribs aren’t going anywhere.

“We have 12 of the best rib vendors in the country that come from places like Texas, Florida, the Carolinas and Ohio as well as the bes ribs in Chicago. Many of the people coming are world champions. For rib vendors this is a destination – they want to be a part of this festival, its one of the two largest in the country along with Reno, Nevada,” said Emery.

The park is open daily from noon to ten – but if you want to skip the line and save a few bucks head over to Ribfest dot net for tickets.

With headliners like Sammy Hagar, Kelly Pickler and The Band Perry, you’re going to want to grab your tickets fast.

“We have tickets at the gate and online and front of house for all four days except for Sammy – he’s sold out – but you can still get general tickets for him. Then you can get front of house and regular tickets for all the other days,” said Emery.

Online you can also find out the easiest way for you and your crew to get to the fest whether you want to pay to park or use the free shuttle service.

“The nicest thing about Ribfest is if you want to pay money and be close you can certainly do that but you don’t have to. We have eight or nine remote lots then on the Fourth of July we will have 15 or 16 and those are all on the website. We will take you door to door- to your car day or night – we don’t leave anybody at the park,” said Emery.

Proceeds from Ribfest go to local charities stopping domestic abuse and violence, to date they’ve raised just over $15 million.
