Students and alumni at North Central College found a tasty and fun way to celebrate a mathematical holiday.
Since 2005, mathematics Professor Mary McMahon has invited students to join in on activities to celebrate the day dedicated to the mathematical constant of pi, or 3.14, on March 14.
Students played games, wrote and sang songs dedicated to the day, and shared wisdom from alumni to current students.
“It’s a real fun day to kind of just get together and talk about math and just enjoy it and take a deep breath from everything,” said Christy Gerut, a Student at North Central College.
The class wrapped up with a few bites of their favorite types of pie.
The unending, never repeating decimal of pi is found by dividing the circumference of a circle by its diameter.
