Members of the 501st Legion made their way to the Edward Hospital pediatric center to put a few smiles on the patients’ faces.
The group, made up of volunteers who recreate the iconic costumes themselves, donate their time and talents to philanthropy.
“The little ones especially they cannot believe these characters are here in the flesh. The storm troopers especially are such a strong representation of Star Wars and when the kids see that their eyes get real big,” said Childhood Specialist at Edward Hospital, Melissa Slattery.
They also handed out Star Wars toys donated by Becca’s LEGacy, a donation fund started by a mother who lost her daughter to cancer.
The 501st Legion is the world’s largest star wars costuming group, and is Lucasfilms preferred imperial costume group.
