Whether you are in the North, South or Downtown, there is something new opening near you.
“Naperville is about 40 sq. miles so everywhere from the Downtown and then radiating out from there we have just a wealth of new businesses,” said Christine Jeffries, President of the Naperville Development Partnership.
New restaurants Fogo de Chao and Uncle Julio’s recently opened near Granite City on the North end of Naperville in Freedom Plaza.
On the South end, Fresh Market grocery store is under construction on Route 59 and 95th street, and Painting With A Twist, which pairs art and wine, just opened nearby.
And as always, Downtown Naperville is full of activity.
“We have so many fun new openings coming to Downtown Naperville. It’s really going to be an exciting year. We just updated maps, we already need to do it again,” said Katie Wood, Executive Director of the Downtown Naperville Alliance.
One of the most recent downtown openings is Dark Horse Pastries. Located on Chicago Avenue, owner Terrell Cole is already discovering how busy Naperville can be.
“It’s been good, it’s been really good. Surprised at the foot traffic coming through. I knew it would be here but I didn’t think it would be that fast,” said Cole.
Just a few doors down, Empire by Ballydoyle will be opening this spring.
Other Downtown restaurants under construction include, Nando’s Peri-Peri, Halsted Street Deli and The Market Restaurant and Bar by Two Brothers.
“It’s not only restaurants, we have some fun new retailers coming. Soft Surroundings is going to be opening up at the Main Street Promenade in April,” said Wood.
There will also be many new retail and dining opportunities when the Water Street District is completed later this year.
“There’s always something new coming to Naperville so we’ll see several new restaurants, some new shops throughout the town. So it appears that the recession has receded and Naperville is really booming,” said Jeffries.
Also recently opened is Delirio, a latin fusion restaurant on Jackson Avenue in Downtown.
Naperville News 17’s Evan Summers reports.
