Naperville teen Zachary Machnikowski is being held without bond in DuPage County Jail, after allegedly stabbing a local couple while they were sleeping.
The 18-year-old is being charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder, home invasion and residential burglary after breaking into a home on the 900 block of Iroquois Avenue and stabbing William and Mary Lenk as they slept.
William awoke when he heard his wife screaming in the bed next to him, and managed to call 911. Machnikowski fled, but was caught nearby.
The Naperville teen told police he had been at a party with the Lenk’s daughter earlier in the night, where he perceived that she had insulted his looks. Once caught, officers said he told them he was “tired of being made fun of and being called ugly all his life,” so he hurt her parents to cause her pain.
The Lenks were taken to Edward Hospital to be treated and both have since been released.
Machnikowski will be back in court on April 27 for his arraignment.
