This year, Naperville’s marathon has a new name; the event is now called the Healthy Driven Naperville Marathon and Half Marathon, sponsored by Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare.
The change comes just two months after the company launched their new 2015 Healthy Driven initiative.
“The reason that we did the name change is that we have really new rallying cry for all the patients in the community and that is for each of us to take individual responsibility for our health,” said Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare CEO, Pamela Davis. “But healthcare is really much more now about preventing illness and having people live full, productive, happy lives. So we thought the name really demonstrated that forward action of being healthy driven.”
On hand for the name reveal was Edward-Elmhurst healthcare’s CEO Pam Davis, Naperville Mayor George Pradel, and Co-Race Directors, Craig Bixler, Tom Horvath and Dave Sheble.
The event has become one of the fastest growing long distance running events in the country. General registration kicks off on February 28th, and the race itself is on Sunday, November 8th.
The new course will be released later this month and all information can be found at naperville26.com.
