A newborn baby is alive today thanks to the work of the Naperville Fire Department.
After getting a call of a woman in labor, paramedics discovered the baby was breech- meaning it’s not facing the right way for delivery which leads to limited airways for the baby.
While in route to the hospital, Naperville paramedics successfully delivered the baby despite emergency conditions.
“Certain surgical procedures had to be done while en route to the hospital. Very extraordinary, but required a high skill level by our paramedics and collaborating with the hospital really worked out to a successful outcome,” said Chief of the Naperville Fire Department, Mark Puknaitis.
Naperville News 17’s Alyssa Bochenek reports.
