A new business is headed to town after action taken at the latest city council meeting.
Council unanimously approved the final ordinance to allow Andy’s Frozen Custard to come to the Naperville Crossings development.
After discussion between residents and council members, the ordinance was modified to ensure minor changes will be made to the landscaping plans, along with the possibility of adding more bike racks to the lot.
This would be the seventh location of the frozen treat franchise in Illinois, which is expected to open later this year.
And on the eastern part of town, council maintained their opposition to a new Extra Space Storage facility that would be located near 75th Street and Wehrli Road.
Despite the petitioners’ changes to the plans, like making the facility two stories instead of three, most council members were still not sold on the idea.
“This is not, I think, the type of use that the city ever envisioned happening at this site. I’m familiar with Extra Storage’s facility on Ogden Avenue, it’s a very different setting than this setting here,” said Kevin Gallaher, Councilman for the City of Naperville.
Due to the location of the site in unincorporated Naperville, the DuPage County Zoning Board of Appeal will have final say on the development.
